Designs for Health, Inc., as a manufacturer of nutritional supplements, has been certified to be in compliance with the FDA GMP regulations by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) since May 2009.
Every year, we undergo four audits by the NSF to verify we are maintaining our compliance. These audits evaluate every aspect of our operations, including:
- Quality Assurance department and related procedures
- Raw material and finished product testing
- Production and distribution procedures
- Facility and equipment cleanliness and maintenance
- Employee training
- Vendor qualification
- Document control
Certification gives assurance that DFH products have the identity, strength, composition, quality and purity that appear on our labels.
Our Quality Policy
Quality is controlled and guaranteed, from raw material selection through the manufacturing of the finished product. In a dedicated effort to ensure the superior quality and purity of our supplements, DFH, or the designated vendor, evaluates and retains documentation regarding all raw materials and finished products. Our comprehensive testing criteria are designed to evaluate all aspects affecting quality and efficacy, specifically: identity, purity, quality, strength, and composition.
DFH Vendor Qualification Program
Every DFH vendor must undergo a formal qualification process to evaluate procedures and activities related to the manufacture, packaging, and holding of DFH dietary ingredients and finished dietary supplements. Key elements of the qualification process include vendor evaluation, documentation review, evaluation of manufacturing controls and processes, and the existence of a DFH-approved testing and monitoring program for raw materials and finished products.
The DFH Quality Guarantee
DFH stands behind every product it sells, offering a full money-back guarantee to any customer who is dissatisfied with our GMP documentation or the performance of the product as exhibited in clinical practice.
Our Commitment to Research and Support
Pure and effective Products
These underlying principles define the DFH philosophy of designing nutritional products.
Science First: Our team of doctors, nutritionists, and industry specialists use peer reviewed, scientifically researched literature on nutrient efficacy and safety, combined with clinical experience, as the basis for designing DFH products and protocols.
Do No Harm: Our nutritional supplements are free of ingredients commonly used by other companies which research suggests have negative side effects, including gluten, soy protein, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), fructose (including concentrated fruit juices), artificial sweeteners, and black pepper extracts. We are actively working to switch all of our ingredients over to non-GMO sources. As of February 2015, over 80% of our products are free of GMO-containing ingredients.
Nutrient Form Selection: Nutrient form selection is aimed at maximizing stability, absorption and metabolism of that particular nutrient or combination of nutrients.
Nutrient Delivery: Often a variety of nutrient delivery vehicles are chosen, including capsule, softgel, powder, liquid, or controlled released technology. DFH recognizes different health conditions and personal tastes necessitate these options.
Synergistic Formulas: Many of the DFH formulas contain groups of nutrients that fit therapeutic goals for various deficiency states and conditions. The DFH holistic approach takes into consideration the complexity of human metabolic pathways. Administering one particular nutrient in high doses may create metabolic imbalances. DFH always reviews the complete clinical picture when formulating a complex array of nutrients. Combination (synergistic) formulas often enhance patient compliance by minimizing the number of supplements a patient is asked to consume.
Practitioner Feedback: DFH works closely with the practitioners that are using our products. Feedback and suggestions from their clinical experience are always invited. Often, practitioners are the initiators of new formulas. DFH continually monitors new research and clinical results, adjusting existing formulas accordingly.
Competitive Prices: Maximizing the DFH products price/quality ratio is a primary goal. DFH will not produce a product unless it is safe, effective, and affordable to patients, while protecting the revenue model of its practitioner clients.
